Learning as a way of living

The Power of Silence Being comfortable with silence is one of the most underrated skills of our time. In silence, we think clearly. In silence, we hear our inner voice. True discipline starts with being comfortable with stillness because that’s where thoughtful action begins. Yesterday, I texted someone, and today I noticed myself feeling uneasy. I was talking more, trying to be friendly and open, but that also pulled me away from my focus. It reminded me how important it is to protect silence. Every moment of silence adds strength to your foundation. Silence is not emptiness; it’s direction. Discipline is Structure A disciplined life is built on structure. There will be moments when it feels tough, but if the structure stays alive, discipline stays alive. Discipline is what keeps us grounded when emotions or random thoughts try to take us elsewhere. Focus thrives on structure. When you focus on one thing at a time, you build depth, not just breadth. We all crave connection ...

Courage from cricket's point of view: Willingness to fail is courage

Image
I was playing cricket today and when I was bowling off spin, I was listening to my captain on what kind of bowling would he like me to bowl. He was constantly talking about you should ball full length deliveries and that will get me wickets. I totally understand and respect his thought process. And well he was right, and meanwhile when I corrected my head position I was able to bowl the deliveries that I wanted to. What really went wrong was that at times I would bowl short deliveries and that would go for runs. So well, I did learn that I was bowling well and also the fact that when I was bowling there would be chances of wickets. I created 3 chances of wickets but no one really caught those catches. While that's okay and those things happen, one really interesting thing happened. One of my team mate, Kapil told me that you have to be courageous enough to bowl ahead. One mindset he taught me was that you have to have the courage to be hit for a six. Without that courage you would...

A bit of thought on purpose

Having a purpose gives you immense strength and courage. I was doing some usual gym reps yesterday, and I was lifting weights in the gym, I realized that when I was lifting the last few reps, for an example, the last 2 reps, I told to myself, "This one is for India", meanwhile there was a surge of energy I got and I lifted those last 2 reps even though they were extremely difficult. I believe that's the way to go in life. Having a purpose. Without a purpose life becomes way too difficult to live. I also believe that happiness is closely tied to your purpose in life. If you have purpose in life, you will eventually be happy. Purpose is something that contributes value to many individuals in life.  Apart from purpose making you feel good, what are some other things that you need to do. How can we genuinely contribute value into people's lives. I feel that's the most important part of our lives. We should keep asking this question to ourselves, providing value into ...

The Art of Listening: Why Good Listening Skills Matter More Than You Think

It’s been a while since I’ve sat down to write for a straight 45 minutes. Earlier today, I was speaking with Jon about a feature he was developing. It was an interesting chat, but that’s done. Now, it’s time to write again. So, what to talk about today? While discipline has always been one of my recurring themes, today I want to talk about something equally important: good listening skills , and why they matter so much in our personal and professional lives. Why Good Listening Is So Important The most important quality in any conversation is good listening . When you listen well, you don’t just hear words; you learn more, understand more deeply, and connect more meaningfully. Good listening also makes you more empathetic. It helps you become a better friend, colleague, and leader. People love being around good listeners, not just good speakers. There’s a saying that every great writer is a great reader , and every great speaker is a great listener . Listening forms the foundation of al...

The Masculine Saturday: Structure, Challenge, and Grounding

🧭 The Masculine Reset: How to Master Your Saturdays and Recenter Your Energy Saturday is an interesting day. It’s the day the world slows down a bit, no office, no meetings, no forced schedule. And that’s exactly where the danger lies. Without structure, the mind drifts. Without challenge, energy leaks into distractions, YouTube shorts, endless scrolling, or mindless entertainment that gives instant dopamine but no long-term fulfillment. That’s the paradox of freedom: if you don’t plan it, it becomes your biggest trap. Masculine energy thrives on direction. It doesn’t do well in chaos. When you give it no mission, it starts seeking stimulation. But when you give it a purpose, a workout, a goal, a challenge — it becomes calm, focused, and powerful. So the goal of Saturday is not just to  relax , but to  recenter . Saturday should be the day you reconnect with your  core , your  body , your  vision , and your  values . 1. 🌅 The Morning Reset: Start With Dis...

Mastery Through Focus: How Deep Work Creates Real Value

Image
Yesterday, I was with my friends and that's when I realised that my knowledge in the space of Goldman Sachs is pretty weak. I didn't really know what they were truly doing. In the recent past, I have also not seen a lot of videos from Cal Newport which makes my life a bit difficult. Because if I don't follow Cal, the depth in my life is reduced. Anyways that happens, sometimes we do lose our focus. Cal particularly says that when you lose focus you have to reset the timer and you should have an incremental timer philosophy while working. So that way you can become rare and valuable. Life is about doing the hard and difficult things. Whether it's about having conversations or not, we don't know. But Cal Newport has certainly taught me a lot of things in life. Similarly, there's another writer called Ryan Holiday whose philosophy is something I like. I truly enjoy the philosophy. So today, I want to go ahead and take his quotes and talk and expand about those.  L...

Rejection, Vulnerability, and the Courage to Be Yourself

I’m going to talk today about something we all face but rarely admit openly:  the fear of rejection . Even as I write this, there’s a part of me thinking,  “What if people read this and judge me? Maybe not everyone should know about this.”  But then again, that’s the whole point, rejection is universal. Everyone goes through it. And if it’s something that can crumble our confidence and hold us back, then we should be willing to talk about it. What Is the Fear of Rejection? At its core, rejection is not just a “no.” It’s the  feeling of humiliation  that comes with it, the sting of not being chosen, not being valued, or not being accepted. For some, it comes from childhood experiences. For others, it’s shaped by failures, insecurities, or painful life events. Deep down, it can feel like proof that we are not good enough. But here’s the truth: rejection is nearly impossible to eliminate from life. What we  can  do is reduce its power over us. The way for...
