Mastering Focus: The Key to Productivity, Clarity, and Success in a Distracted World

Image
Let's talk about focus today. One of the key aspects of life that probably people from the young generation really struggle with because of social media and other stuff. Being someone who did my Masters in Computer Science, I knew focusing is an extremely important topic for me and focus leads to a happier life as well. I have read books like Cal Newports Deep Work that only taught about focus. Had read atomic habits during the time to understand more about the habits of focus as well. So what is focus in itself and how do we really understand and get better with our focus. In simple words, focus is simply the art of eliminating your distractions and doing just one thing at a time. When you start doing only one thing at a time, focus naturally comes in.  Now the question is why is focus so important in life?  Improved Productivity: If you think about it, when you focus on one task and only one task, you improve your productivity. For an example, if you are ironing your c...

From Vision to Reality: Jobs and Bezos on Simplicity, Innovation, and Resilience

Image
Recently, I was wondering what do the ceos of big tech firms think and is there a pattern to it. As I was researching about this, I came across finding a pattern across different ceos and their quotes. So I have learnt a pattern for sure. Now let's start with quotes from Steve Jobs.  Steve Jobs Quotes:  Steve jobs first says that don't let the noise of others opinions drown out your own inner voice. This is Steve jobs saying. I believe he intends to leave people pleasing behind and simply work on his ideas and he does not want the noise of the opinions of others drown out his own inner voice. What he also means is that for innovating you need to be different and unique, you got to trust your own gut rather than doubt yourself by hearing other people's opinion. Courage to defy convention, every innovation in the world comes from the courage of defying the current convention. People believed that the earth was flat until proved otherwise. Once you have the courage to defy con...

Why Communicating Through Emotions to Make People Feel Important and Valued is Essential

Image
At the heart of human interaction lies one fundamental truth: people remember how you make them feel. More than the things you do for them, it's the emotional impact you leave behind that shapes lasting relationships. When you make someone feel important and valued, you touch their sense of worth, and in doing so, you strengthen connections, build trust, and create an atmosphere of mutual respect and support. People do more for you when you make them feel important. Think about this, imagine if you have done something special for others, you made someone else feel important and valued. This makes them feel better about themselves and then you know what they do, they try to give back something like that in return. No matter what, the idea is to make others feel important. I have had friends who make me feel important and I just feel more gratitude towards them and when their chance comes I also do make them feel important. This is what a normal person thinks like.  You can inf...

Why Seeking Help Makes You Stronger and Wiser

Image
I have always wondered that if asking for help was a sign of weakness. But as I go through life and its experiences, I feel asking for help is not a sign of weakness but a sign of courage and strength. Sometimes, we are so self consumed that we feel like asking for help is a sign of weakness. However, today I want to convince you that asking for help is not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength. So firstly why should we think about asking for help? Why should we even ask for help when faced with a difficulty.  Now when we face with a difficulty, we might be trying out solutions but there might be a blindspot that we just don't know. But when we talk to people, ask for help and talk about the possible solutions we can understand the true depth of the problem and once the depth of the problem is understood we would be able to solve the problem much more easily. We all know the great Sachin Tendulkar, in his book Playing it my way, he said that there was a technical problem with h...

Beyond the Chase: Discovering Happiness Within Yourself

Image
Today everyone is chasing happiness either by hook or by crook. But where is happiness really found? What are the ways one can achieve happiness? Is it directed outward or is it directed inward? Is happiness more of what we look for outside or is happiness something that just comes from within? I strongly believe happiness comes from within.  One day I was going to a " chai ki tapri " in India. As I was going to the chai ki tapri, the person who cooks the tea asked me, " Kya loge sahab? " when he asked me, I said, ek special adharak wali chai. He was delighted that I asked the adharak wali chai, and as he was cooking the chai he was singing a song, and enjoying himself while cooking the tea for me. He earns only Rs 10 in that tea, and then I understood, that this person is only earning Rs. 10 for a tea and look at how much he is enjoying his work. It was a lesson I learnt myself, maybe it's not the material things that give you happiness, in fact happiness is m...

Lessons from MS Dhoni: Mastering the Process Over Results

Image
There are a couple of ideas I was having one was character related, take a character and talk about their quotes. Next was take a book and summarise them, since book summaries are also available on YouTube, I think a character summary would be a good way to start this new thread. The first character that I am going to talk about is one of my favourite sport icons, MS Dhoni. I personally feel like I have learnt so many things from him, in fact there are certain mindsets I got from Ms Dhoni that I applied in my life and got successful as well. So why not just start with Ms Dhoni? Purpose First:  One of the first things out there about him is this. When a reporter asked Msd about whether he'll be able to play when his daughter Ziva was born. He said that he's on national duty and everything else can wait. That's a big statement to make. This shows his mindset was totally about nation first and everything else later. He thought about playing cricket is what I get from this quot...
