Pressure Creates Diamonds: Confidence, Focus, and Flow
I only believe in Jassi bhai, only game changer player he is. These were the words of Siraj. I believe this is a such a wonderful thing.
I love this thought by Jasprit. There is always pressure, but you don't try to think of the pressure. I focus on one ball at a time and think of what I need to do on that ball. Wow, that's s such an interesting way to put. In life also, I think we need to just focus on one ball at a time, which technically means one day at a time. I believe that is how we should look at things, one ball at a time and one hour at a time in life. This removes a lot of distractions that we might have. One ball, one day at a time, one hour a time. One minute at a time. I would also go on to say one second at a time. Imagine if you lived your life one day and one hour at a time. It would be so wonderful. I'm thinking more about this, but let's think about a life lived one hour at a time. We won't be thinking too much about anything else. Just doing what needs to be done in the moment. We would write in the moment. We would create in the moment. We would find ourselves happy in the moment. We would love in the moment. We would cry in the moment. I think that's a life that's worth lived. Moreover, this part of pressure that Jasprit said is more interesting to me.
Just mouthing off makes no sense to me. If the ball is doing the talking, it's enough. If we apply this quote in our real life, what he says is that let the ball do the talking. There's no need to do a lot of talking, but just do. That's what he means. Sometimes you would find a lot of talk in people and not do anything. Sometimes you would find a lot do but no talk. Jasprit is more of the person who likes to talk less and keep doing, which makes sense for his personality. I think we'll learn from this. We want to be the person who wants to keep on doing until it's done and then we talk. Pehle kaam fir baat.
I never think about the wickets that I have got, the numbers. I just try to contribute to the team's success. I believe it should be the same in life as well. What this means is that he does not worry too much about the results and just does what needs to be done at that point in time. So that is Jasprit for you. I like that attitude of Jasprit. Anyways so that's Jasprit for you. Don't think about the outcome too much and just think about the team's success and that's what you got to do.
Some opinions are rooted in experience, expertise, and genuine care. Others come from a place of insecurity, ignorance, bias, or projection. Learning to distinguish between the two is crucial. If you internalize every criticism or chase every piece of advice, you’ll end up constantly second-guessing yourself, changing directions, and losing sight of your own values and goals.
You can't be taking every opinion seriously. Taking every opinion seriously implies that all voices deserve equal influence over your decisions, but they don't. You have to develop a filter. Ask yourself: Does this person know what they're talking about? Do they have my best interests at heart? Are they offering something constructive, or just venting?
Respect doesn’t require agreement, and listening doesn’t require obedience. Stay open-minded, yes, but guard your mental space. Not every voice deserves a seat at your decision-making table.
During pressure situations, it is important to have confidence in your ability. I really love this idea. It's important to have confidence in your ability when you have pressure situations. Can I think of this a little deeper. Why does he say that ? We all know that we have pressure situations in life. I feel like we all are having challenges and the way we deal with it is to come out of it strongly. Think of pressure situations like diamonds, either you deal with it smoothly or you deal with it non-smoothly. You can break people in pressure or you can make diamonds under pressure. Those who thrive under pressure situations are the ones who have confidence in their ability. They keep doing what needs to be done. So now that we know about this, let's take a look at where we want to go.
