True Freedom
I woke up at 8:00 am approx to watch today's RCB vs CSK match. As I was supporting CSK, I really wanted CSK to win this one for Mahi. But apparently it wasn't our day today and we lost the match and were not able to qualify for the playoffs. Suddenly, a random stream of thought came into my mind, like you know Tirth, you are supporting CSK because of Dhoni but someone's supporting RCB for Virat or maybe they just like the team. So instead of being unhappy because your team lost, be happy for the fact that there are many other people happy today who wanted Virat to win and so be it. It's a game, you win some and you lose some. That's the nature of cricket. Moreover, I started dwelling on what makes Virat and Dhoni so so loved around the entire country. Do they share anything in common ? Maybe yes but most likely they are very different personalities. Dhoni is the calm and composed guy, Virat is the loud and the passionate guy, both of them have achieved so much for the country and have given smiles and happiness on the face of 1.4bn people. It's definitely not an easy job to represent 1.4bn people and they have done it with pride. But you know what makes them so likeable? It's because they don't pretend to be someone they are not. They are who they are on your face. More even, there are individuals who hate Dhoni, there are individuals who hate Virat as well. But that does not affect them. It's about being who you are and not trying to seek approval of anyone in the world.
What is this awkwardness or weirdness all about? I mean honestly, at that point in time there was nothing awkward or weird about anything or anyone. People outside are there to watch something or the other. That's it. In fact, now I feel rather than trying to be someone you are not, why not just accept the awkwardness, the weirdness and live with it. There's nothing wrong in doing that. After all, when you came into the world, you cried, you were totally naked, but still that's not awkward or weird. But yeah let's say if you were naked when you died that would be weird, at the end of the day whatever the mind thinks is different from the normal seems awkward or weird, but lets say if you are awkward and weird every single time, people would know what to expect and that would not be awkward or weird for you. So you know what? Let's be awkward, weird, quirky, stupid and vulnerable. Because who cares? Haters gonna hate, rotis gonna rotate, potatoes gonna potate so who cares? Be you and wear that big smile in your face and in your wardrobe, that's more welcoming than anything else in the world.
Another important thing is to recognise that whenever you are out there and you don't know what to do, just smile and say a hi, it's going to make you look pretty normal. The world will judge, the world will criticise but remember you have to do what you have to do here on earth. Whether that's playing football, cricket or coding, you just got to do what you got to do. So stand up with your back straight, chin up, a smile on your face and go ahead living your life. It's okay to be awkward, weird and quirky as long as it makes you. The thing with that is, there would be people in your life who would not want your awkward side, or your weird side, let go of those people because its better to be disliked for the real you rather than being liked for a version of you that you are not.
At the end of the day, all I want to say is, no matter what you do in life, no matter where you are in life, even if you achieve the greatest thing in planet earth, there would be people who would say something rough or bad about you. Enjoy yourself, exercise your freedom of failing and rising up again. Risk everything, gain everything, but make sure the first thing you do in life is you need to be disliked and be okay with it. That's what the real you is all about.
The irony is, if you are not disliked by someone, you are not even liked by someone, there's no point to live a life like that.
True freedom after all is doing the best you can irrespective and remembering that haters will always hate no matter what. If giving a middle finger to them helps do that as well ! Have a good one.
