Small Moments, Big Joy: The Secret to a Fulfilled Life

A lot of times in life I think what am I working for? What is this life all about? Yes in order to live well, I need to contribute well, fine but what makes life worth living? If I keep working and working and working, I might enjoy only to a certain extent. If I keep playing and playing and playing, I will be tired of playing. If I keep waiting for the next achievement when I get one, I keep waiting for my happiness. But in all truth I realised that real joy is in the every day moments. The simple moments, the little things that make life joyful. It's the smile on the front desk that I enjoy watching when I go to work, it's a new born baby smiling and giggling is what I enjoy more than my promotions, not that I don't enjoy promotions, but I enjoy watching a baby smile and giggle a little more. It's the forehead kiss from a lover that one enjoys more than the other things. It's the first drops of rain and dancing in that rain one enjoys, it's the steps of garba that we really really enjoy. So as you see some of the joys are free, they don't cost any money because they are truly priceless.

Exactly, happiness is a beautiful sunset, the first snow fall, and it's the little things in life that makes life beautiful. As they said, Joy comes in sips not gulps.

I love this quote even more. Happiness in life is made up of minute fractions, the little soon forgotten, the charities of a kiss or a smile, a heartfelt compliment and countless infinitesimals of pleasurable and genial feeling. Absolutely beautiful, they said in the quote that it's the countless infinitesimals of pleasurable and genial feeling. So look for happiness in real life, a good conversation, a good community or even sharing a great bond with someone will give you happiness. Again, the first step of happiness is that you don't chase it, it's inside of you, you just share it. That's my personal opinion.

Imagine you have a child born and because of some work you were not present when the child was born. You even didn't spend a lot of time with your child when he was growing up because you were spending time only at work and didn't prioritise your kids. Seeing your kid happy and prosperous is one of the best feelings a parent can get. But because of work commitments you give your kid a lot of attention and love. Now imagine that you are almost 80 years old and because of the lack of attention given by you to your kid, he/she has started taking drugs, doing wrong things, etc. How would you feel at the end of your life? Would you feel like a good parent or would you feel like you should have spend some more time with your family and your kids. So although it was a little thing when you were 30 but when you were 80 you realised you missed the most important things in your life. Recognising and understanding that it's these little things put together make a whole and complete life.

So I am going to keep this short and sweet today, but please please take some time to talk to your friends, parents, brothers/sisters, family, as life is short and the little moments will be big one day. It's the kiss from a lover, a hug from a friend, the unconditional love and approval of our parents, the smile on a face of stranger that makes life what it is.
