Stay on the crease

I remember it was a Wednesday and I was playing cricket as usual. After getting out on 2 innings very early, once I scored 3 runs and in the very next innings I scored 2 runs at a 50 strike rate. But it was not about scoring less runs in less balls, but it was more about why didn't I bat a bit longer. Isn't my wicket important, in both these innings the mistake I made was choosing the wrong ball to hit the boundary or a six. Sometimes, you just need to wait for the right ball and not go after every ball is one of the basic rules of cricket, but because of this t20 mindset, I thought it's okay to go after every ball. However, we all need to respect the game, be patient, watch the ball and then strike the ball trusting your basic instincts. Yes there would be days that wouldn't work, but for the most part it will workout. So what are we going to talk about today, today I am going to talk about patience and why it's a crucial part of our lives, whether that's cricket, work or relationships, every big thing requires patience and perseverance. I think I have spoke about patience in this blog, but I just want to reiterate the point of patience because it's important, crucial and rather I would just call it critical for us. They say Rome was not built in a day, like the fruits in a tree does not come when you sow the seed but when you water the seed daily. Life, my friends is a test match and not a t20, you got to play the situation, take your time to get settled and then go for the big shots.

So today, I wanted to change the way we usually go about these things. I wanted to take how patience can improve our lives in various sections of life whether that's work, relationships, health and fitness or even the spiritual aspect, everything in life really needs patience. I want to first talk about business, whether it's any kind of business or even a job, nothing really blossoms on the first day. It takes time to build a reputation, it takes time to build a brand whether that's business or job. Every business, irrespective of what kind of business it is, it will go through some highs and some lows like any other business. It will go through a phase where you really want it to blossom but not many people know about it. It will go through a phase where you would be doubting whether it will work, but be patient and stick through the process. Unless you are going in too much debt. There's one very good quote that I like, and here it is.

Truly, energy and patience are really 2 indispensable elements of success. You want to have a good energy but at the same time you want to be patient with yourself for the business to succeed.

For building anything in life, it's very important to make sure that you have patience. You need to make sure that patience becomes a part of your DNA. That is it comes naturally to you, you don't need to be patient but you are just patient by nature. This comes through years and years of practice. You need to stay away from social media, you need to do things that take time, for an example gardening, or learn a new language, play a new musical instrument, whatever that is, if it takes time, that's the right thing to do and sticking to it is even more important.

Be it any skill, we all need to try and fail first. It will be difficult, learning guitar is difficult, playing a Casio is difficult, singing well is difficult, for that matter even learning coding as a beginner was difficult, but we did it right. Now it might seem easy, but initially, it was difficult. So everything in the world is difficult before it becomes easy. So remember that.

The great Warren Buffet, we all respect and know how amazing an investor he is. He talks about how impatient people are attracted towards money and money is attracted towards people. It's like how the men who are most attracted to women but women are more attracted to men who aren't really attracted to them. So it's the same way with money, money doesn't really go to people who are attracted to money, it goes to people who are patient, who wait for the right time and then take a shot. So that's what my opinion is, maybe everyone's opinion here might differ. I am sure there are people who want to get rich fast, and there would be people who might have gotten rich really fast, but think about Virat Kohli, we know he has earned that much money that most people in their whole life would not be able to earn. But does Virat Kohli step out on the field thinking about the money that he will get if he wins the game. Does Michael Jordan care about the money while he looks at the basket and takes his shot? Does Shahrukh Khan make movies for the money? Did bill gates think about money while writing his code? I mean most of the people might not even think about money while they are building. Yes there would be a thought that you want to do certain things so that you can earn the money as well, I am sure Srk might add more commercial elements in his movie so that it earns well, Virat would do as many brand endorsement as possible so that he also earns well, but while Srk is acting or rehearsing his dialogues, he does it with utmost passion, he does not think about the money and similarly while Virat is batting he does not think about the money. Imagine the ball coming towards you at 130+ kmph and you are thinking about money, would be able to survive also? In my opinion no. So yeah in general chasing anything means that you are more likely to go away with it. I might be wrong here, but that's what my personal opinion is, money goes to the person who does not chase money, but chases excellence.

Relationships:

When we grow up, we all think that marriages are fairytale romance, there's a sapno ka rajkumar, a sapno ki rani, everything made up in our imaginations, but in reality none of it is true. In fact, it is timeless love. It is selflessness, it is patience, and most importantly it is enduring the hard times together. It's not being together when everything's good, but being together when everything does not work your way. The movies, the romantic novels, everything in the world don't depict an accurate description of marriage. So don't believe in them, yes enjoy them for the sake of enjoying but don't try to emulate the description of marriage from the movies or from the novels. Be patient with your partner.

Love is being patient, if 2 people who stay so close together, it's impossible that one person does not irritate the other. But rather they tolerate that irritable part of their partner. Love will be consistent only when we attach it to being patient, forgiving and still respectful. I don't want to say anything over here, as I don't have much experience but I do believe the quote is true. Love is patient
