Beyond Excuses: Embracing Hard Work and Positive Mindsets
Today, I was wondering what can I write about, I was going through a time that was cold and boring.Because of the cold outside I didn't feel like going out and staying home is always boring. I was wondering what can I write about, in fact I still do not know what I will truly write about. But lately I have realised that I have forgotten the what, why and how part in my blogs and have simply written crap and non-sense. But it's okay sometimes writing something is better than writing nothing. So today's topic is hardwork and how it makes us happy when we work hard. So before we go into hardwork, what's life all about? It's simply the time period between birth and death. That's it. It's a time period. All of us have 24 hours in the day, we do something, we play cricket, football, talk to our friends, go for haircuts, work towards our goals, etc. so we are constantly doing something inorder to fill in the time. In order to fill in the time we are doing something. So I wanted to talk about hardwork with a sense of filling in time.
A lot of times what happens in my life is that I start wasting my time in video games or some other bad habits. All of these bad habits come on the day I am sitting at home and particularly on the bed. When I am on the bed, I start thinking about sleeping the whole day or playing video games or something else. So what we need is that we need someone to constantly have a look at us and give us feedback or we should simply go to an environment that does not happen to be addicting and people are looking towards their goals. For example, going to work will make you find people with a similar mindset and going to the gym will help you find people who work on their body. So if you find the right people, the right mindset will come. There's nothing 100% but most likely it will come. Good times are created through working and working and working. I was listening to a Shahrukh Khan interview and he said, he just likes to stay busy. Busy doing anything, either that's making pizza, giving an interview or making a movie. That's why if you see Srk has accepted everything that's come across him. He was the first actor who did commercials, he was the first actor who started producing movies, he was the first actor who went to dance at weddings and then it became a trend. He truly was a trend setter. But the mindset behind everything was that he wanted to earn money and once the money is earned he wanted to fill in the time. When he is idle he starts thinking all the negative thoughts and that happens with everyone.
I met someone today who was from the maintenance service and he told me that he usually blocks time from X-Y time, he will be doing this. After that at this point of time he will go to the gym, etc, this way he can really focus on the activity at hand while doing the activity. This used to work for me especially during school time as my schedule was fixed, my exam dates were fixed and I just had to prepare for my studies during the time. So it's more important to recognise that these things happen and it's a part of everyone's life. So working hard means filling in the time by doing something. Whether that's reading books, playing cricket outside or whether that's going out to meet friends, everything is a part of the hardwork. What we need to do is to avoid bad habits. The good habits will be formed automatically.
One way is to collect the items that you need to complete and have a clear picture of what you need to do on a particular day and how you can schedule it. Yes, being flexible is the key, you know some things can expand and take more time and somethings might not, so make sure that you are flexible around your work schedule.
Now let's go into how can we avoid bad habits and keep working hard. Rather than hard, let's just keep working at something or the other. So what is hard work really? How do we say someone is hardworking or not? In my view point, hard work is working without excuses and rules. A lot of people say that I can only work till 10, I can only work till 5:30, etc. Since I have followed Shahrukh Khan a lot, I know for that matter that Shahrukh works till late even if it's 4:00 am he's working. He's does his workout at 3am and so on. Basically, he just says whatever we need to do, we need to do and there are no excuses for that. If you have to go to dinner with friends, you need to go to dinner with friends and there are no excuses for that. If you have to take your girlfriend out, that's also something that you need to do, there are no excuses. Similarly, if you have to solve 20-30 leetcode problems you have to solve them, or well leetcode is just and example. But the idea is to do what you need to do when you need to do and life will be simple. If you need to cook at a particular time, you need to go ahead and cook. Don't waste your time thinking how good or bad a cook you are, you just need to cook. All the other parts of life will come at its own time and space.
So work without excuses is hardwork in my definition. I can talk about some practical ways of being hardworking and most of them would be repeated in the blogs before. But one thing I will tell you is that knowing what you need to do is very important and having a written plan about things is important. Sometimes when you have free time reading a book is also important and even if it's 3am going and doing a workout is very important. For all of these things to happen, you need to remove the negative thoughts about yourself and the world as well. If you keep thinking negative about others that will only shrink your face and make your face less attractive. So think positive thoughts and keep working. This is a very unfiltered thought that I have.
In summary, I just want to say that think positive thoughts and keep working and filling in your time. That will do a lot of good in your life than anything else. Don't listen to negativity and too much of news as well. Remember that you can control the input to your mind by having positive input and even positive output.
This is a very weird thought but I want to give you one exercise to think positively about every situation. Whenever you get stuck in a situation or whenever you feel there's something negative about a situation, flip the situation around by asking what you need to learn from the situation? What did this teach you ? What can I do to improve the next time I play the sport? Or for that matter whatever it is. Go ahead and think that you can do it and I am sure that you will do it.
Let's say you start with a huge project and if you tell yourself that you cannot do something, your mind will work towards making things right as you said. So have a positive mind and keep telling yourself that you can do it and see the world change around you ! Have a wonderful day/night !
