Pain is a Privilege: Building Strength Inside and Out
I have been thinking about gym recently and who better to ask for advice than Arnold himself. So here we go with some Arnold quotes.
What we face may look insurmountable, but what I learned is that we are always stronger than we know.
Interesting. The way Arnold Schwarzenegger talks about this is that, sometimes we face situations in life that are insurmountable. Which means that problems that are really difficult to overcome but what I learned is that we are always stronger than we know. That is when we have difficult moments, we will come out of it stronger than we think. For example, a breakup might help you motivate go to the gym. A lose of job will motivate you to improve your skills. Any difficult situation in life will help you grow to be the person you are always meant to be. You will improve in all aspects of life during the time not just one. So go ahead and learn that in your head. You want to go into difficult situations because that improves life more than anything else. That's what Arnold says. So the take away is that don't run away from pain rather go towards pain because the other side of pain will be a stronger you. That is being bold.
This is something that I wanted to hear. A well built physique is a status symbol. It reflects you worked hard for it, no money can buy it, you acnnot borrow it, you cannot inherit it, you cannot steal it. You cannot hold onto it without constant work. It shows discipline, it shows self-respect, it shows patience, work ethic and passion. That's why I do what I do. Such a great statement. He looks at a well-built physique as a status symbol. It's so interesting. I like this so much. When we start looking at body building as an evidence to discipline we will see things in our life completely differently. You will see that it's important to build your body at all times and constantly work for it. It also shows patience and work ethic. That's the reason it's so important to build a great body. So now, that is something that I always wanted to hear. We need to build a great body and get to the gym every single day. It's not very difficult to make it a habit honestly. If you can make this a habit nothing like it. So, a practical way of making it a habit is doing it at the exact same time every single day. If you go to the gym at 6:00 pm everyday, go to the gym everyday at 6:00 pm. No you don't need any other things at that point. So go ahead and start gyming at 6:00 every single day.
Next, is that once you start gyming you will find a lot of joy in your life too. You will start respecting your body a little more and treat your body like a temple. You will drink more water. You will eat better and with all of this, you will also like your life more. People will respect you more. Believe it or not, gym does help you to become the person that you are always supposed to be. So go ahead and do it.
Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender that is strength. So good again. Here his perspective is that strength will actually come from hardships and that's why even above he said that you should never avoid hardships. That's what makes you the person that you are. So go ahead and workout. Every single day. Do not overthink just go ahead and do it. At least maintain a streak of 21 days. Read atomic habits again and go ahead and do it. That's the way you will find your ownself again. So I feel like for all of this growth activities you really need to stay single. I can't focus on girls during such times.
This pain that you hold is yours. There is not a single pain quite like it. Nobody else on God's green earth can feel this pain, or have indescribable feeling of pride you will have when you overcome it. This pain is not your curse; This pain is your privilege. I like the way Arnold says that this is a privilege in your life. So pain is truly a privilege. We need to understand this very well. Pain is a privilege. Repeat it again. Pain is a privilege. So when you workout hard enough, you will find privilege in that. You will find joy in the same. So go ahead and workout. Read atomic habits again as I said.
1. Trust yourself: As I said in the Virat Kohli blog. It's extremely important to trust yourself. Just be there and trust who you are and what you can possibly do.
2. Break some rules: We got to break some rules. Remember that there are many rules and when we have too many rules, we might break a few. You can only reach your limits when you workout every single day for 365 days. It's okay. You will lose some money. But keep working on yourself for the workouts at least.
3. Don't be afraid to fail: Failure isn't the opposite of success, it’s a part of it. Each stumble teaches you something. So don't fear it, embrace it.
4. Ignore the naysayers: Not everyone will understand your vision. Some will doubt you, some will talk you down. That’s okay. Let your results speak louder than their words.
5. Work like hell: Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. Success demands relentless effort. So roll up your sleeves, block the noise, and put in the grind. Consistency compounds.
6. Give something back: No matter how far you go, always give back. It grounds you. Whether it’s your time, your energy, or your wisdom, lifting others lifts you too.
