But it comes from not having control over the things that we ought to do. I understand that there are going to be days where we feel out of control. So, the point here is to have small and manageable goals. Not big, huge goals. Feeling in control over where you are going is more important. Have clarity.
What are certain benefits of having small manageable goals?
First of all, it's going to be controllable. It's easier to have a goal that I will wear my gym shoes and my gym clothes than having the goal that I will do so many bicep curls, so many push ups, etc. So just have very specific and small goals. The next idea is that you need to know only the next step. Not the entire path. When you drive from point A to point B, do you care and only think about the destination or do you have to take care of the left turns, the right turns and the path that you need to take at this point in time. So have those small and manageable goals. That way your life will be easier and much better. Care only about the next actions list. Make that next actions list no matter what. Because that's your guide on what to do next and you simply care about that. The outcome will come by itself. 2. Arrange the list: Once the list is made for a final outcome, arrange the list in order. What's the first thing that you got to be doing right now.
3. Active listening: A lot of times in life we just go through life without any thought or idea or literally just random thinking. However, the most important skill I have found is active listening. When you actively listen to someone, first of all you are validating what they are saying. Second you are making them feel heard and seen. Third and the most important you are yourself understanding so many things while someone is speaking. Another thing is you don't need to interrupt while someone is speaking.
4. Design your life around learning: Now the list should contain atleast an hour or so of learning. Because the idea in life is that sometimes we don't learn anything else except for the things that we are learning right now within the moment. For example, you can learn guitar, you can learn casio, you can learn to play literally any musical instrument. You can learn spanish. You can learn cooking. The idea is to keep on learning in life, because trust me learning is a life skill. You might have to learn a cricket shot one day, a dance move the other. Apply your learning to real life.
5. Small things everyday are better than too many things on one day: The idea of learning is that when you do the small things, you will feel extremely satisfied in life. One idea is satisfaction. The other idea is that you will find a lot of joy in doing what you need to be doing. So have small things done everyday rather than doing great things everyday. Life is in the small little moments
6. Be in the present moment: I know this is easier said than done. But do things that bring you back to the present moment. If that's reading. Talking. Learning. Developing. Writing. Playing cricket. Laughing. Literally anything, once you develop a way to be in the present moment. There's literally no stopping you.
7. Have experiences : Once you start having experiences life will have a deeper meaning. You will enjoy a little more. You will see things that you have not seen before. You will hear interesting things. You will be in a space that's happy for you and the world. So have experiences, that make life deeper and richer. Talk to a variety of people. Lift the world up and then watch them lift you.
