The bright side
Today was a mistake. A mistake as in, I saw porn. It's bad. I thought it's a good way to relieve some stress. But it's absolutely a pathetic decision. I need to get back to my own way of working. The problem I believe is that I did not have a plan after coming home. Moreover, when I do not write I do not feel good as well. Like we have always said this before, self discipline is an identity. I understand there would be days where the phone happens to come in between of us and the goals. But then we have to get back again. It's day one again. Now let's try and eliminate phone from our lives and replace with good habits. I think what I need is a TT racket now, I am really excited to play the game of TT. Moreover, I have to stop thinking about the results a lot. So well, TT racket and a ball is what we want right now. Once we have a tt racket, it would be good to practice certain spins during the time. It's important to have the accessories though.
Let's talk about the idea that when we lose self-discipline how do we get into it. The first and foremost thing is this. You need to know what's right for you in the long run. If you lose energy through porn or blue films it's going to hurt you a lot. Moreover, this will become your stress response. We need to find out what our stress response is going to be now going forward. I did not go to the gym as well. It hurts that I did not. Need to come back again. Moreover, when I had a good day I let the next day slip away from speaking less. Now we both are in good form Siddharth Sharma and me, i.e Tirth Doshi. We should not let the momentum go away, there are going to be challenging and tough moments that will come in. But you got to keep at it and keep going and keep giving value to the team. That's how you grow. So yeah, today was a boo which is fine, but let's have a strategy of coming back.
As I have said, men are planners, men are builders, and we need to have a structure in our lives. If we do not live with a structure, life will be difficult. Anyone will be able to pull us down. So let's make sure that we live with a structure. I am feeling bad about the porn video that I saw. It's really bad. The only way to get rid of negative habits is to add positive ones. Moreover, I was a bit upset when I called a few people as well. For example, I made a couple of phone calls to Sagar. I really don't think I should have. There's no need to do that. Moreover, I think what really helped is that when we were focusing on the process we were moving things forward really well. So let's try and get there. Let's make sure we are doing something really significant and providing value to people in their lives.
What Siddarth did yesterday was good. He was able to find out certain root causes and moreover we were eventually able to figure out most of the problems that we are having. So let's try and make sure we can get the code for the graph apis working. It's okay sometimes we will lose control. But structure is what will help us be in control. I think reading time, gym time, are all important aspects of the structure. If we lose that structure we will lose ourselves. Moreover, we will have structured giving also. If we are in a great structure and if we remain grounded, we will be able to achieve things in life that most people will not be.
So let's first talk about the discipline of the phone. I think when we have the phone at a different place while working, or the other method that works with me is that I just keep my phone with me, but what I do is that I keep the work timer on the phone. So that it does not really distract me from anything else. Also I think having less things to do and more valuable things to do are better. Today I did watch porn because I was bored. I was stressed and moreover it was Friday. What are the hobbies that can replace it. I think having a table tennis racket will really help me there. Also having a ball with it will help. So let's have some structured approach for our love in table tennis too. I think I played really well in table tennis and we are going to win this time around. We will win the game of table tennis. We just need to be working on our skills and our coordination with the bat and the ball. So that way we will be able to achieve more. All said and done, let's try and get our hands dirty and make sure we are doing writing the code and testing our flows well. That's the only way to work. We do have Saturday and Sunday. If we are able to put some work on Saturday and Sunday without telling anyone that would be great too. I know for that matter that Srk does work on all days. Events to him is also work. He reads scripts, he does the work that is required. He dances for weddings. He does the shooting. Similarly, even Jensen Huang keeps working for all the time. I believe that's a great thing. They keep working. Sometimes going to a conference is also work for him. So we need to be reading great people and great books.
There's a book called life after google. That's a book that I am interested in reading. If I read that book and make sure we are going in the right direction that would be great too. I should keep my interest in reading, in music, in dancing, in working out, in cricket and now in ping pong too. Getting a table tennis racket is worth an investment.
Another thing is working out on time. Sleeping on time. Eating on time. One major flaw in today's day was the fact that I did not eat well in the afternoon. That did not help me. In fact that did upset the way I would feel stressed. I did not really like going anywhere. I had to go and eat at Cava. It's a bad decision. Moreover, I was chaotic and was speaking any random stuff. So let's make sure we have boundaries and we have our silence there. It's something that we need to do. To be comfortable in silence. Be grounded and mediate. Arushi is giving me space so that I can figure out stuff, not to get wasted in porn or anything else. So keep giving freely now. Alright, so we need to keep giving there. So we need to keep working. This project that we have can also be challenging but we will be able to complete it till 27th. We will be code complete till 27th don't worry about that. So here we are back in form. We need to be fetching some information there. That's all we want. That's all we require. We also need to understand how the backend code works. How can we authenticate the token and so on. But that's something we will figure out as things go. But let's consider any other ways we can increase our self control from porn.
Porn happens due to the environment you are in also. So sometimes it's a good idea to just go on a walk. If you are going for a walk, you will not have bad thoughts. If you are in bed at a time like 6:00 pm and you got nothing better to do, that's where you can stumble. So make sure that you are not in bed during the time. I would say go to the gym. Enjoy working out and come back in 2 hours. It's going to be difficult. But if you are able to enjoy the process, there's nothing like that. So when I code, I also put on musics when I am coding. Now. that I think of it, it's not wrong at all. It's important that we enjoy the coding session and flow with it. It's more important to keep on learning more and more skills on that. So well, that's quite an important that we need to consider for that.
I am also aware that the danger I have is not with Sidarth. The danger I have is with Anzo. He is someone who is extremely good. But that's a competition that we can deal with later. He writes a lot. Which is like me. With the way he is going, he is not too visible at this point in time. But let's keep the process on. It's okay to fall. But it's important that we get up. Now let's discuss specific ways to overcome. We already know that we should not be doing a lot of context switches while working on something difficult. Let's keep that idea in mind. Work on a difficult problem for a longer period of time. When you are so involved with the problem, you will be able to solve it more effectively and you will not get distracted by phone or anything else. So make sure you are doing that. Keep doing practice projects. Having a structure will help in life outside of work too. Let's talk about being grounded and having a structure outside of work.
For having a structure outside of work, the first thing that you need to do is this. Be completely grounded. Give to the world. When you are in a giving state, you will naturally vibe well. You do not want anything from the world. That's an extremely powerful place to be in. You are in contribution state. So let's contribute to other people and make sure people grow from that.
One really good way is to be completely involved in a project. The more you are involved in the project the better your life will get. For an example, Cal says that you should do few projects at a time. Which is correct but what one really needs to know is that one has to be completely involved in the project. Know the nitty-gritty. Understand the technical concepts. Play more and more. That way you will be able to have more fun with it.
Use tools like chatgpt or something else. You can also use copilot for it. But well, I am pretty sure that llms help. Trying out and experimenting helps. So let's get ahead and keep on working is how we can stay disciplined. The other thing that I thing we need to change is go to the gym early in the morning. That will complete a great routine. Like Rafa Nadal, we can become more disciplined.
Let's talk about how great people keep themselves away from distractions. We will be talking about Indian Sports people. Specially cricketers like Dhoni, Kohli, Rohit, etc. I understand the pressure that they go through. I have also spoken about how one should not need validation and attention. So let's keep doing the work and let results come when they have to.
